I’m so excited to announce that my debut middle grade novel, POWER UP, is a 2020 Christian Indie Award winner in the children’s 8-12 category!

POWER UP is also officially a Selah Awards Finalist (winner to be announced 11/20), and is available for purchase as paperback or eBook through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and! Here’s what Marina Bromley, author of Morning Meditations at Marina’s Kitchen Table, has to say:

“Wow. Such a great book with an eternal message! Without being pushy or preachy, in a delightfully realistic storytelling way, kids and adults can learn about the Holy Spirit and the benefits of learning to use His many gifts.

This book was not hard to get in to, even for me (a nearly 60 year old grandma!). The story lines and intricacies of the main character, her family and friends, makes for such a great read. To have the Sunday school teacher giving her assignments to her class makes these complete teaching moments, and the homework assignments and shared are pure delight. It made me pay more attention to the Holy Spirit at work around me too, and I was encouraged to listen to Him a little closer too!

Although intended for 8-12 year olds, I think this book would be easy to use for family reading time with younger kids, and it’s even enjoyable for adults. But be warned, you’ll secretly be learning about the power of the Holy Spirit at work in us and through us, and may even experience it firsthand!”

Seventy percent of Christians accepted Jesus between ages 4-14. These years are absolutely crucial in a child’s spiritual development. Why not reinforce what we’re trying to teach our kids in multiple ways…such as through books? I don’t want young people to settle for being simply “church kids” any longer, but to dive in to life with the Holy Spirit and live the adventure out loud!

Huge thanks to Deb Haggerty and Elk Lake Publishing Inc. for turning this dream into a reality.

Power Up was an award winner in the 2018 Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference annual Foundations contest.
