The Middlefork Series is a home front family saga that currently spans four books. The first of these historical romance novels, A Mess of Dreams, is available now, with the next three to release soon!
These stories are inspired by family history and are close to my heart. Set during the 1940’s and 1960’s in my actual small hometown of Potomac, Illinois, located in Middlefork Township, the first three in the series (A Mess of Dreams, A Breath of Hope, and Burdened) follow one woman’s journey of perseverance across three stages of life, where prejudice, illness, and disaster in Vietnam all endeavor to break her.
The fourth book in the series (Wounded) follows a related character as she joins the Navy Nurse Corps to help heal the dramatic physical wounds obtained by US soldiers in Vietnam, while also seeking healing for her own deep emotional wounds.
This series is filled with exciting elements, such as German POWs in America, prejudice, chronic illness, and even some somewhat controversial issues that people were forced to wrestle through in the sixties. And as in all my books, the main characters experience an impactful spiritual journey along the way. Cakewalks, unique bits of history, quirky best friends, country living, and plenty of humor partner with the deeper issues to make these books a series I hope you will love and recommend!
